Hello Lodging Owners and Managers,

As many of you are aware, the LMD and EALA (Estes Area Lodging Assoc.) have been encouraging lodging establishments to participate in the Rocky Mountain Lodging Report.  Thank you to those who have recently signed-up.   We now have 23 properties participating.  With over 140 lodging properties in Estes, we are still in need of many more.   Keep in mind that Denver’s participation in this report is over 80% of their lodging community!  They understand the value of accurate data and how it benefits them.  We want Estes Park to have their own accurate data, so we can all benefit from it.

Aside from the current RMLR, the LMD is also looking into providing a  FORECAST REPORT  that all businesses in town can utilize to assist them in making valuable decisions BEFORE  visitors arrive.  This report would provide you with key information on what to expect in the coming months.  Ultimately, it would equip you with information that you can react to, prior to the guests arriving.  The forecast will be 120 days forward.  For example, the May 1 report would provide you advance reservation data for June, July, August and Sept., encompassing the Local Marketing District area.  This information would assist all areas of business including retail, restaurants and lodging.

As with the RMLR, it is necessary that enough lodging establishments participate to create an accurate report.  If enough do participate, the LMD can begin this process as soon as May 1.  If there are not enough establishments willing to join, the LMD will not proceed with this project.

The LMD is willing to pay for the cost of the FORECAST REPORT.

The LMD also needs this type of information in order to accurately “pace” what businesses can expect.  As a result, the LMD can then provide businesses with information to assist in their success.  As we all know, the state of our economy as a nation and as a small community is in a state of flux.  This report would greatly assist the LMD and local businesses in this challenging time.

Of course, there are many tools the LMD will use to assist businesses in town; however, we all can agree that forecasting information is extremely critical and helpful.

If you are willing to participate in the FORECAST REPORT, please email Bob Benton at RockyMountainLodgingReport@comcast.net  by Tuesday, March 31, 2009.  As always, property identity and information is always confidential.  The LMD is not privy to this information, either.

Note the following three items in your email:

1.)     State you are willing to participate in the Estes Park Forecasting Report

2.)     Include how many rooms your establishment has.

3.)     State whether you could provide a pace report for the previous year (as well as the requested current year).

The LMD greatly appreciates the support of the community in providing this key information.  The LMD Board is willing and able to assist you with how to create a forecasting report.  Most establishments in town have the reservation software needed to print this report within 2 minutes.   For specific questions, feel free to contact any member of the LMD Board.  Board members are listed on the LMD website at:   www.marketestes.org
